Power BI’s existing data refresh schedules are limited and remembering to manually trigger a Power BI refresh can be difficult. One of the benefits of Power BI is receiving real time data, and Microsoft took steps to enhance this benefit by adding an action in Flow to automatically trigger a dataset refresh. Now this action can be added to an existing Flow to automatically update the refresh dataset as needed. Whether that is when the dataset is updated, at the touch of a button, or at the end of an existing Flow that touches the data.

The action itself is called “Refresh a dataset” and it can be used by adding the name of the Power BI workspace and the dataset. This action can be used in combination with other Flow actions to create an enormous list of possible combinations. Whether your data is stored in SharePoint, Excel, or OneDrive or needs to be refreshed on a recurrent schedule, this action can fit in dozens of use cases!
